The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban will get new interiors, powerful diesel engines, technology borrowed from new electric vehicles, and updated features for safety and comfort when America’s best-selling large SUVs are updated late next year.
Add bodacious available 24-inch wheels and it’s clear Chevy intends to protect its leading 40% share of the lucrative market for the biggest SUVs.
The powerful and advanced three-row SUVs will also offer all-new interiors and cameras providing up to 13 video views for everything from towing to checking for a purse left behind in a parked car.
The Tahoe and Suburban deliver maximum interior room and towing capacity to devoted customers who use them for everything from towing big horse trailers to hauling families and work crews.
Prices, fuel economy and other information will be announced closer to when sales begin.
The Tahoe and Suburban compete with vehicles like the Ford Expedition, Jeep Wagoneer, Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia. Combined with the closely related GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, General Motors holds 60% of the total market for the biggest SUVs: Around 300,000 sales a year. Large luxury SUVS like the Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes GLS and Range Rover compete in a different price class from the mainstream Tahoe, Suburban et al.
In conjunction with the Tahoe and Suburban’s debut, Chevrolet will abandon its established “Find new roads” tagline in favor of the grammatically dubious “Together let’s drive.”
Thanks, Yoda. Good the SUVs are.

Major interior changes
The SUVs’ sheet metal is unchanged, but new front and rear fascia and lights update their appearance. The LED lights have an approach sequence to welcome the driver. The daytime running lights are thinner, while some models have swipe-style turn signals.
The interior is all new. The dashboard is an inch lower than on the current models, for better visibility. An 11-inch digital instrument cluster and 17-inch landscape-orientation touch screen are new. Both are shared with the electric Silverado pickup that just went on sale.
To make room for the touch screen, a stalk on the steering column replaces the gear-selector buttons on the current models. The touch screen is angled slightly toward the driver for easy use. The new models retain traditional dials and buttons for primary climate controls. For audio, there’s a volume dial, tuning and track selection rely on the touch screen or switches on the steering wheel.
The new center console adds storage space and a second wireless charging pad.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard equipment.
A new interior radar system detects micromovements in the rear seat to remind the driver of pets and children.
Cameras for a 360-degree view when parking are standard.

More powerful diesel
The 3.0L straight-six diesel engine’s output increase significantly, to 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. The diesel will be available on all trim levels for the first time. The improvements owe to a retuned turbo, higher-flow fuel injectors, new pistons and improved cooling improve.
There are no changes to the gasoline engines, a 355-horsepower 5.3L and 420-hp 6.2L V8. As before, all engines are mated to a 10-speed transmission.
There are no hybrid models, but electric versions based on a new architecture are expected in 2026.
New steering calibrations and suspension tuning should improve ride and handling.
Towing capacity remains 8,400 pounds for the Tahoe, 8,200 for the Suburban
The 2025 models, scheduled to go into production at GM’s Arlington, Texas, assembly plant in the fourth quarter of 2024, retain their current dimensions. Magnetic ride control and air suspension remain available.
