This modern house created by the architectural studio Citizen Design graces the central coast of California in San Luis Obispo. Nestled into the landscape, “Pipers Place” is organized around an interior courtyard that allows the family to enjoy the outdoors year-round.
The main volume of this 3,500-square-foot home is flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows that allow views of the surrounding vineyards and rolling hills of the Edna Valley.
The floating concrete entry steps lead up to the front patio, and users are greeted by an 8’X12′ glass pivot door. The main living space is bookended with a natural stone fireplace on one side and walnut cabinets on the other. The home has two wings on either side of the living volume.
Behind the stone fireplace sits the master bedroom with its own private outdoor patio, while the children’s bedrooms occupy the rest of the wing. On the other side of the living volume is the guest wing that houses a guest bedroom and family room.
The rear courtyard is protected from prevailing winds by the two-bedroom wings and provides privacy for the pool and outdoor living.
The home features polished concrete floors that have radiant heating, walnut cabinetry throughout, terrazzo tiles, and quartz countertops.
