Alton Lennon Federal Building construction continues

Construction on the Alton Lennon Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse as seen on July 25, 2022. The building has been closed for repairs since Hurricane Florence in 2018.

In the heart of downtown Wilmington, the Alton Lennon Federal Setting up and U.S. Courthouse is surrounded by a thicket of fences.  

Neon orange construction dividers and tall chain-website link fences cordon off the setting up, whilst building carries on at the rear of.  

The developing has been closed since it was devastated by Hurricane Florence in 2018. The hurricane triggered comprehensive flooding and a decline of power to the making.   

The U.S. Common Companies Administration, the federal building’s caretaker, is currently in demand of renovations. 

General public affairs officer for Southeast Sunbelt Area 4 of the GSA, Cathy Rineer-Garber, said the process of generating repairs to the making began in 2018 pursuing Hurricane Florence.  

“GSA’s very first steps ended up to stabilize the courthouse and secure it from even more hurt till repairs could be finished. At this time, we are proceeding with extensive repairs,” Rineer-Garber mentioned via e-mail.
