My favorite annual event was last weekend – the sold out Newburyport Holiday House Tour. Due to timing, I only made it to three houses – a group of recently built warm neutral farmhouses.
The tour benefits the Anna Jacques Hospital Aid Association. With close to 200 members, the “Aid” is comprised of energetic, dedicated individuals whose goal is to raise funds in support of its community hospital through signature events and programs. Since 1888, the Aid has made a tremendous difference and has provided millions of dollars for mission critical needs.”
This first house is Nantucket inspired with lots of fun island touches. This modern farmhouse was designed by Scott Brown Architects of Newburyport. Their work has been seen on past tours including a holiday tour here and a kitchen tour here.
Farmhouse style shiplap and beautiful millwork throughout. Love all the natural textures from the sisal rugs, seagrass stools, linen fabrics which all work well with the woven Nantucket baskets on display and decorating the Christmas tree.
The dining room is a lovely space overlooking the front yard and filled with vintage prints and art.

The cute little gingerbread house reminds me I was planning on making one this Christmas. Thinking it will be next year!
The warm neutral farmhouse bedroom is really well done – festive and still cozy.
The photo below shows how well a classic oriental carpet will work even in a more neutral space.
I never got photos of the kitchen of this house – my guess is that there were too many people milling about when I was there. They did have a fun steel drum group playing which added to the festive island feeling of the home.
This next home, also a neutral warm farmhouse style, was designed collaboratively between the homeowners, Gorman Homes and Gina Baran Interiors. I didn’t get a decent exterior shot.
This house has a lovely flow – it’s an open floorpan but the living area was slightly offset and separate from the dining are and kitchen which makes it feel even more restful.
Loved the naturalistic greens and the neutral toy soldiers.
