GREENWICH — Workers and contractors are making repairs at a physical therapy office in central Greenwich that was badly damaged when a car crashed into it.

Plumbers and other workers were on the scene of SportsPlus Therapy at 282 Railroad Avenue late this week, after a major accident Tuesday morning.

According to Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz, a 92-year-old Greenwich man was driving a Mercedes in the small commercial center. “He was driving in the parking lot and went forward into the building,” the lieutenant said.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver of the vehicle. The 92-year-old, as well as two people in the office, were taken to the emergency room with injuries that were non-life threatening, authorities said.

A gas line was damaged, so emergency personnel evacuated the building.

SportsPlus Therapy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Slusarz on Friday said the case was still open, and a summons or other law enforcement penalty could be issued against the driver if warranted.
