My Safe FL Home Update
The My Safe Florida Home program has completed more than 70,000 free home inspections and allocated over $200 million in grants to help strengthen Florida homes against hurricanes since November of 2022. Tens of thousands of homeowners have received free inspections and made important upgrades to their homes, all while saving money on their insurance as a result.
However, due to the overwhelming interest in the program, it is currently not accepting new grant applications. The number of grant applications submitted already exceeds the available funding allocated. This means that even if you have submitted your application to receive funding, it may not happen in this current funding allocation.
If and when additional funding becomes available, existing grant applications will be processed in the order they were received. This means that the program is holding your place in line for future funding. Even though new grant applications are on hold, you can still get your free home inspection through the My Safe Florida Home program and create a roadmap for strengthening your home and saving money on insurance.
The Florida legislature is currently considering allocating more funds to the program. We have proven that strengthening homes works and can help us all save money on insurance premiums.
