Spooktacular Community Giving: Simpson Strong-Tie’s Halloween Adventure

Simpson Strong-Tie celebrated this Halloween by combining fun, family and giving back. This year, Jade Spadoni and her family attended the event in our Pleasanton office, which included a fun Trunk or Treat event and incorporated a give-back activity that aligns with our values. This successful event left kids and parents with smiling faces.

Last week, Simpson Strong-Tie employees immersed themselves in a spirited Halloween give-back scavenger hunt. This was my first Halloween with the company, and I really enjoyed joining in on the fun! As a mom of two young children, working for a company that keeps families top of mind is important to me. When I saw the invite come through for this event, I RSVP’d right away and volunteered to decorate my trunk to give out candy.

When we arrived, we set up our trunk to prepare for the Trunk or Treat portion of the night. My son and I decorated our car centered around one of his favorite movies, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” To start the night, we participated in a scavenger hunt led by the nonprofit group Mindful Littles, whose mission is fostering connections and enhancing young people’s well-being through acts of compassion. The overall goal of the scavenger hunt was to find items to fill Halloween goodie bags that will be gifted to kids in the community (which aligns with our Company Value #8, Give Back, expressing our commitment to supporting the communities we call home). My family and I raced around the home office, looking for the items, and filling our tote bag with colored pencils, toys and glow bracelets. I really enjoyed this because I work from home and this would be only my fourth visit to our company office, and it was a wonderful opportunity to get to know where all the departments and conference rooms are located.

Once all the items had been hunted down and scavenged for community kids, we headed back to the training room to decorate and assemble the goodie bags. Once the goodie bags were assembled, Mindful Littles led a closing exercise where we asked our children what they are thankful for. We wrote their responses on paper leaves to be added to a tree located in the office lobby. My son shared with me that he’s thankful for the time we have playing together, which of course made my heart melt!

Then it was time for the grand Trunk or Treat extravaganza! Simpson employees went all out for this event, with trunks decorated in themes of witches, Star Wars, island life, football, and classic Halloween. After all the candy was secured, Simpson treated the families to dinner, bounce houses, and an outdoor movie night. Overall, the event was a success and my son raved about it the next day, sharing how much he enjoyed visiting mom’s office. My family and I can’t wait for the next Simpson Strong-Tie family event.
