Dream Home Makeover was nominated for an Emmy!
Last weekend was the 49th Daytime Emmys honoring the Creative Arts and Lifestyle Daytime Awards. Dream Home Makeover was nominated under the Program Non-drama category for Outstanding Instructional & How-To Program! We were so honored to be included amongst a crowd of other unbelievably talented and creative individuals, such as Home Work, MasterClass (with Issa Rae and Ringo Starr!!!), and This Old House. While we didn’t take home the award, Syd and I enjoyed the all-glam date night and just took it all in. The magic all happened just as we’re preparing for the release of season 3 of Dream Home Makeover on Netflix! It was a perfect night to celebrate and a memory we won’t soon forget.

Feminine Dresses:
I sorted through a handful of dresses before I finally settled on a white lace, trumpet silhouette gown. I’m taking inspiration from this look to help guide some choices for more “every day” elevated white dress picks. The guipure lace detail really set this dress apart and I love that the same attention to detail can be found in so many of these dresses. The puffy sleeves added a feminine touch and is a trend that can be found in so many darling dresses, like this!
Shining Accessories:
With the detailed but understated nature of the dress, I wanted to add a little sparkle to the look (it was a red carpet, after all!) These botanical-inspired statement earrings added just the right amount of glam, while the shoes echoed the subtle glimmer. With the shoes and earrings pulling in some shine, I kept true to myself with a clutch that was polished but pared down – I love that I will be able to wear and use the bag on repeat.
Glam Hair and Makeup:
The real star of the show – hair and makeup! As soon as I had picked the dress, I knew the look called for a classic, voluminous hair that could show off the earrings. Thanks to the hair queen Laura we were able to pump up the volume before our flight to LA and it lasted through the night! For makeup, Danielle kept things glam but polished with touches of pink. I loved the lipstick she used so much that I bought myself my own tube while we were waiting at the airport!
These fancy evenings are few and far between, but getting the chance to dress up and enjoy a night out was a highlight of 2022 for the McGees. Now back to our regularly scheduled program of Zoom meetings and sneakers.
Hi, wondering if you could link the dress Shea is wearing while getting ready? She looks so wonderful in both looks!
Absolutely gorgeous congratulations!
