NHL All-Star Game 2023 final scores, results: Tkachuk brothers, Dylan Larkin power Atlantic to win

For the first time since the NHL began the 3-on-3 All-Star game format, the Atlantic Division is the All-Star champion.

The Atlantic defeated the Central 7-5 in the 2023 final on Saturday afternoon in South Florida. The squad earned the $1 million winner’s prize. 

The Tkachuk brothers, Matthew and Brady, and Dylan Larkin powered the division to wins over the Metropolitan in the semis and the Central in the final.

Larkin scored a hat trick in the final and totaled five goals in the two games played. Brady Tkachuk had a goal and four assists on the afternoon. Matthew Tkachuk was named All-Star Game MVP for his four-goal, three-assist effort in the two games in front of the hometown Panthers crowd.

6:17 p.m. — GOAL! Cale Makar gets his first of the day with seven seconds. The Atlantic lead is cut to 7-5. 

6:16 p.m. — GOAL! MacKinnon answers for the Central with 20 seconds. Still down by three. 

6:16 p.m. — GOAL! Dahlin can’t score on the penalty shot, but beats Hellebuyck short side. 7-3 Atlantic. 

6:15 p.m. — Dahlin draws a penalty shot with 41 seconds left after Jones hooked him. Dahlin tries to go behind the back, but it’s stopped by Hellebuyck. 

6:14 p.m. — GOAL! Keller gets on the board with a cheeky one-handed breakaway goal. 6-3 Atlantic. 

6:13 p.m. — GOAL! And seven seconds after the Robertson goal, Larkin gets his fifth goal in two games. A nifty deke to beat Hellebuyck five-hole, 6-2 Atlantic. 

6:12 p.m. — GOAL! Jason Robertson finishes the 2 on 1 to make it a 5-2 game. Morrissey with a great backhand feed on the rush. 

6:10 p.m. — GOAL! Pastrnak beats Hellebuyck clean through the five-hole on his breakaway attempt and that should do it. Atlantic leads 5-1 with less than three minutes to go. 

6:03 p.m. — GOAL! The Central finally get on the board as MacKinnon sets up Rantanen. Atlantic leads 4-1 with just under six minutes remaining. 

6 p.m. — GOAL! Larkin gets his fourth goal of the afternoon as he sneaks one right through the legs of Hellebuyck. It makes it 4-0 Atlantic.

5:57 p.m. — Hellebuyck is in for Saros in the Central net to start the second. Vasilevskiy replaces Ullmark in the Atlantic net. 

5:54 p.m. — End of the first half: Atlantic 3, Central 0

5:52 p.m. — GOAL! Larkin extends the Atlantic lead to three as Larkin powers his way to the net and gets inside on Morrissey to beat Saros with a backhand. 3-0 with 42 seconds left in the first half. 

5:45 p.m. — GOAL! After MacKinnon rang the crossbar at one end, Kucherov tips in a pass by Saros to double the Atlantic lead. 

5:39 p.m. — GOAL! Just 37 seconds in and Matthew Tkachuk has his fourth goal of the afternoon. He gives the Atlantic an early 1-0 lead in the final. 

5:36 p.m. — Saros gets the nod to start in the Central net. He’ll go against Ullmark for the Atlantic. 

5:25 p.m. — Neither the Atlantic nor the Central have won the All-Star game since it adapted to the 3 on 3 format. So a first-time winner will be crowned.

5:06 p.m. — The Atlantic advance to the final with the 10-6 win. It will face the Central to decide the All-Star winner, meaning there will be a first-team winner in 2023. 

5:05 p.m. — GOAL! Pastrnak picks Ovechkin’s pocket and beats Sorokin five-hole on the breakaway. 

5:04 p.m. — GOAL! Larkin puts home the empty-net goal and that should do it. 9-6 Atlantic with less than a minute to go. 

5 p.m. — GOAL! Matthew Tkachuk completes the hat trick with a slaps shot over the blocker of Sorokin. This is the loudest the crowd has been all weekend, as the hometown Panthers fans are ecstatic. 8-6 Atlantic with just over three minutes to go. 

4:59 p.m. — GOAL! The Atlantic now take the lead as David Pastrnak whips a pass to Suzuki backdoor for the easy tally. After the Metro scored three straight in the second, the Atlantic have answered with three in a row. 

4:55 p.m. — GOAL! We’re back to a tied game as Nikita Kucherov sneaks one by Sorokin on the short side to even the contest 6-6. There is just over five minutes left in regulation. 

4:53 p.m. — GOAL! The Tkachuks answer the Sid-Ovi duo with a goal of their own for the Atlantic. Matthew collects a loose puck and beats Sorokin to make this a 6-5 game. 

4:51 p.m. — GOAL! Ovechkin snipes one by the glove of Vasilevskiy and chirps his countryman during his celebration. Vasilevskiy laughs and shakes it off. 6-4 Metro leads. 

4:50 p.m. — GOAL! Crosby and Ovi are back at it again. Vasilevskiy turns it over to Crosby and the two pass it back and before together twice before Crosby buries it. Metro atop yet again, 5-4. 

4:47 p.m. — GOAL! Let the hats rain down. Gaudreau pots his third goal of the night, beating Vasilevskiy on a breakaway. A lot of chemistry being displayed by Panarin and Gaudreau, 4-4 game. 

4:42 p.m. — Both teams make changes in net. Ullmark is replaced by the Lightning’s Andrei Vasilevskiy and Shesterkin comes out for the Islanders’ Ilya Sorokin. 

4:41 p.m. — End of first half: Atlantic 4, Metro 3. 

4:38 p.m. — GOAL! Now it’s Nick Suzuki and the Atlantic re-take the lead, 4-3. Much more intense game than the first. 

4:36 p.m. — GOAL! Brady gets on the board to add to his strong night as the Atlantic get one back to tie the game 3-3. The Tkachuk connection has been strong. 

4:35 p.m. — GOAL! Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby team up for the goal as they perfect a give-and-go right in front of Ullmark. Metro have its first lead of the night, 3-2 with four minutes left in the frame. 

4:33 p.m. — GOAL! Just 20 seconds after his first tally, Gaudreau gets another one. Ullmark initially made a sensational glove save on Gaudreau’s attempt, but it went off his leg and in. 2-2 game. 

4:32 p.m. — GOAL! The Metro get on the board thanks to a slick no-look feed from Artemi Panarin to Johnny Gaudreau. 2-1 Atlantic. 

4:26 p.m. — GOAL! Dylan Larkin banks in a shot attempt off of Shesterkin and in to give the Atlantic a 2-0 lead. 

4:24 p.m. — GOAL! The Tkachuk brothers and Aleksander Barkov get the Atlantic on the board on the first shift. Barkov regroups in the neutral zone with Brady before hitting Matthews for the breakaway goal. 1-0 Atlantic just 30 seconds in much to the pleasure of the hometown Panthers crowd. 

4:20 p.m. — Starting in net for the Atlantic is the Bruins’ Linus Ullmark and for the Metro, the Rangers’ Igor Shesterkin.

3:58 p.m. — The Central defeat the Pacific in the first semifinal. The Pacific are eliminated and the Central will play the winner of the Atlantic vs. Metropolitan matchup. 

3:56 p.m. — GOAL! Keller gets his second goal on the afternoon. He takes a pass from Jones on the rush and beats Skinner. 6-4 Central. 

3:54 p.m. — GOAL! Karlsson rips one off the iron and in and suddenly it’s a one-goal game. The Central have a 5-4 lead with over 2:30 left. 

3:53 p.m. — GOAL! Pettersson picks his corner off the rush to cut the Central lead to 5-3. His second official goal, should be three if not for the successful offsides challenge. Less than four minutes left. 

3:49 p.m. — GOAL! The Central goes up by three as Tarasenko one-times a saucer pass from Keller that gets passed Skinner. 

3:48 p.m. — Saros makes a number of strong saves as we hit the halfway mark of the second half. Central still up 4-2. 

3:43 p.m. — GOAL! Just 18 seconds into the second half and Clayton Keller beats Skinner with a wicked backhand. The Central extends its lead to 4-2. 

3:42 p.m. — New goalie for each team. Juuse Saros replaces Hellebuyck for the Central and Stuart Skinner takes over for Thompson in the Pacific net. 

3:39 p.m. — End of first half: Central 3, Pacific 2

3:37 p.m. — GOAL! The Avalanche duo are back at it again as Rantanen finds him cutting to the backdoor for the tap-in goal. Central gets back on top, 3-2. 

3:35 p.m. — GOAL! This one counts for Pettersson. Horvat feeds him on a 2 on 1 and Pettersson beats Hellebuyck by the blocker. It’s 2-2 with 2:05 left in the first half. 

3:33 p.m. — GOAL! Seth Jones strips a Pacific player, gives it to Vladimir Tarasenko and gets it back for the goal. 2-1 Central re-gains the lead. 

3:31 p.m. — Peter Deboer challenges for offsides and is successful. The Pettersson goal is wiped off the board. 

3:30 p.m. — GOAL! Elias Pettersson puts home a loose puck at the top of the crease to give the Pacific its first lead of the game, 2-1. 

3:25 p.m. — GOAL! The Pacific ties things back up 1-1 as Connor McDavid and Erik Karlsson execute a perfect 2 on 1 and McDavid finishes off the play on the back door. 

3:24 p.m. — GOAL! On the first shot attempt for the Central, Nathan MacKinnon beats Thompson on the breakaway to put his team up 1-0. 

3:22 p.m. — The Pacific get a few chances early, highlighted by shots off the post by Troy Terry and Nazem Kadri. But it remains scoreless three minutes into the first half. 

3:15 p.m. — Starting in net is Golden Knights’ Logan Thompson for the Pacific and the Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck for the Central. 

2:15 p.m. — The first game of the afternoon is the Central vs. Pacific. Here are the lineups for the two teams.

What time is the 2023 NHL All-Star Game?

There are three games on the schedule for NHL All-Star weekend. The action begins on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. ET. 

There will be two semifinal games before a final game played to determine the All-Star winner. 

The Central Division faces off against the Pacific Division in the first semifinal. It will be followed by the Metropolitan vs. Atlantic teams. 

The winners of those two games play in the championship.

2023 NHL All-Star Game format

The All-Star Game is unique in the NHL. In fact, it is not just one game, but three. 

Starting in 2016, the league changed the format of the games to a 3-on-3, single-elimination tournament featuring four teams, one for each division. There are two semifinal games before the two winners meet in the All-Star Game Final.

Each game consists of two, 10-minute halves. If there is a tie after 20 minutes, then it will go to a three-round shootout, plus extra rounds as needed to determine the winner.

Where is the 2023 NHL All-Star Weekend?

This year’s All-Star Weekend will take place at FLA Live Arena down in Sunrise, Fla., home of the Panthers. 

It is the second time the NHL has played the All-Star Game in South Florida, as the Panthers previously hosted the event in 2003.

The 2021 event was initially planned to take place in Florida, however, it was canceled due to COVID.
